Holding a Bachelor's degree in Forestry and a Master’s degree in Botany at National Taiwan University, YU is a high school instructor of Biology in Taipei.

In 2007, she published “Walking through Ching Tien”, a book depicting the past and present of Ching Tien Street, Da-An District, Taipei City.
