Synopsis

We seem to take adventures together when opening the door.
You begin the role-play show at night.
I, with my camera hidden in my body, follow you tonight…an unknown night.

You swing your mood by their words.
You move your body under their eyes.
I hold the camera more carefully for fear of missing the very moment of you.

What on earth do you really care about?
What on earth do I truly catch with the camera?

You’re still going on with the show.
I’m still looking for an answer…

This documentary film explores the power relationship and ethics between director and interviewee. In addition, it is a close look at promotion girls as a specific subject in Taiwan’s social and cultural contexts, the disciplines regarding female body performance, and the sexuality involved.

Director Statement

This documentary film mainly addresses a director, who sees her own ignorance in the attempt to understand the interviewers and herself, and to be understood.

How far can a camera take me? What do I look for in the act of holding a camera? And the reason? Where is my destination with the camera in my hands?

For me, shooting a documentary film is a ritual of passage, and camera is the dark tunnel through which I, bring myself to the life of the interviewee’s and theirs to mine. Like an animal chasing after something, I go through this tunnel again and again.
