Synopsis

Charged with violation of the Water Act, the indigenous community living under the San-ying Bridge was forced to witness their shelters and homes being torn down by the government every year, while the sand and gravel processing plant on the east bank grew larger and larger; the garbage mountain on the west bank higher and higher. This absurd cycle became so familiar that the children of the community began to build and demolish make-believe houses as a game.

Director Statement

"It is about the time of the year to tear down the houses.

The former Taipei County Magistrate had the houses torn down twice last year to demonstrate the power of the government.

The present Magistrate hasn’t had any achievements yet.

There is still no electricity and tap water in the heaven.

Children grow up day by day.

The elder children did not enter the junior high school.

The aborigines have lost their land.

The parents of the aborigines have gone old..

The children still lead such life in this heaven.

When you foresee their future, what do you think?" -- Mayaw Biho
